Shine City Team — Privacy Policy

The Shine City Team app is an internal tool for people employed by or
contracted to Shine City Pressure Washing (“Shine City”, “we”, “us”). It is
not a consumer app and is not intended for the general public. This policy explains what the
app collects, why, and who it is shared with. By signing in with your employee PIN you agree
to this policy.
so we can verify shifts, dispatch the nearest crew, and calculate pay. It also handles calls,
messages, and job photos. We do not sell your data, and we do not track your location when you
are clocked out.
1. Information we collect

2. How we use the information
We use the data only for legitimate employment and business operations: scheduling,
dispatch, payroll, time and attendance, job documentation, internal communication, and
improving the reliability of the app. We do not use it for advertising and we
do not sell or rent it to anyone.
3. Background location
The app requests “Allow all the time” / background location so it can record your work
location only while you are clocked in, even when the app is closed or your
phone is locked. On Android a persistent notification (“Shine City is tracking your shift”)
is shown the entire time tracking is active. When you clock out, background tracking stops and
no location is recorded until your next shift. You can revoke location permission at any time
in your phone settings, though doing so may prevent you from clocking in.
4. Who we share it with
Your data is visible to Shine City management for the operational purposes above. We also
use trusted service providers (“processors”) who handle data on our behalf and are not
permitted to use it for their own purposes:
- Supabase — secure database and backend hosting.
- Google Firebase / Apple Push Notification service — delivery of
notifications and incoming-call alerts. - Twilio — text messaging and call connectivity.
- SendGrid — transactional email.
We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect the safety, rights, or
property of Shine City, our employees, or the public.
5. Data retention
We keep employment-related records (time entries, job photos, location history, messages)
for as long as you are engaged with Shine City and afterward only as long as needed for
payroll, tax, legal, and operational requirements, then delete or anonymize them.
6. Security
Data is transmitted over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and stored in access-controlled
systems. Access is limited to authorized Shine City personnel and the processors listed above.
7. Your choices
- You control camera, microphone, location, and notification permissions in your phone’s
settings at any time. - Clocking out stops location tracking immediately.
- To access, correct, or request deletion of your personal data, contact us using the
details below. We will respond as required by applicable Canadian privacy law (PIPEDA)
and any applicable employment legislation.
8. Children
This app is for employees and contractors only and is not directed to anyone under 16.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. Material changes will be communicated through the app or by your
manager, and the “Last updated” date above will change.
