Why Choose Shine City?

Shine City Pressure Washing designs, installs, looks after and removes holiday lighting for homes and businesses across Metro Vancouver and the Fraser Valley. We bring the lights, put them up safely, fix anything that fails during the season, and take everything down in the new year, so you get a finished display without ever climbing a ladder. We are 5-star rated with 300+ Google reviews.

What Our Christmas Light Installation Includes

This is a full-season service rather than a one-day hanging job. Every package covers:

  • A custom design laid out for your property, which you can adjust before anything goes up.
  • Commercial-grade LED lights, supplied by us and rented to you for the season.
  • All the hardware: clips, extension cords, timers, stakes and mounting pieces.
  • Installation by our trained crew, who are fully insured with WCB coverage.
  • In-season repairs if a bulb burns out or wind pulls a section loose.
  • Take-down and storage once the holidays are over.

Why rent rather than buy? Big-box store strands tend to give out after a season or two, and because their bulbs and connectors are sealed in, one failure usually means the whole strand goes in the garbage. The LEDs we use are built to last several times longer, and every bulb, socket and length of wire can be swapped out on its own. Using one consistent brand also means we always carry matching replacement parts.

How It Works, Step by Step

  1. Design. When you request a quote, we map your home using online tools and draw up a lighting layout. It comes attached to your quote, and you can ask for as many revisions as you like: rooflines, peaks, trees, shrubs, columns, pathways and more. Choose warm white, cool white, multicolour or a single colour, in classic C9 bulbs, mini lights, icicle lights or net lights for bushes.
  2. Installation. Our crew arrives with professional ladders and safety gear. Lights are fastened with clips made for gutters, fascia and shingles, so there are no nails or drilled holes in your home, and each strand is secured at several points to stand up to wind and rain. We use GFCI-protected outlets and test the whole display before we leave.
  3. Maintenance through the season. Quality LEDs rarely fail, but if a bulb goes out or a run blows loose, give us a call.
  4. Take-down and storage. In the new year we remove every strand, clip, cord and timer, inspect the lights and label them for your property. We then store them for you over the off-season.
  5. Next year. Because your layout is on file and your lights are already labelled, a repeat installation goes faster.

Homes, Businesses and Strata

We install on houses and townhomes of all shapes, including steep roofs and three-storey homes. Our technicians are trained and equipped to work at height. We also light commercial properties, including storefronts, restaurants, office buildings and strata complexes. For these jobs we work with owners and property managers on the design and timeline, and we schedule the work to keep disruption to your business low. Commercial projects need more lead time, so get in touch early.

When to Book

Our installation season runs from mid-October to the end of November, and the calendar gets busy quickly. Booking in September or early October gives you the widest choice of dates. If you want a particular week, request your quote as early in the fall as you can.

Hiring a Pro vs. Doing It Yourself

Putting up your own lights can look like the cheaper option, but it comes with real downsides:

  • Ladder and roof safety. Climbing onto a wet, cold roof in late fall is a genuine fall risk. Our crews are trained for it and carry the right equipment.
  • Electrical problems. Overloaded circuits and damaged wiring are common with do-it-yourself displays.
  • Damage to your home. The wrong fasteners can harm shingles, gutters and siding.
  • Your time. Hanging, fixing and removing lights can easily take a full weekend. With us, you never deal with a tangled strand.

How Pricing Works

Every quote is built for the specific property. The main factors are the length of roofline you want lit, the number of storeys and the pitch of the roof, and how detailed the design is, such as extra colours, trees, shrubs and accent pieces. Your quote covers the lights, installation, maintenance, take-down and storage. Our Christmas light installation cost guide explains each factor in more detail, or you can request a fast quote and see your own design and price.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to buy my own lights?

No. We supply commercial-grade LED lights as a seasonal rental, and they are included in your quote.

Can I change the design before you install?

Yes. Your layout comes with your quote, and you can ask for as many changes as you want, including adding trees, landscaping or extra rooflines.

What happens if a light goes out during the season?

Call us. If a bulb burns out or wind knocks a section loose, we come back and repair it.

Do you take the lights down and store them?

Yes. Take-down in the new year is part of the service. We label your lights and store them, so they are ready for your property next season.

Will the installation damage my roof or gutters?

We attach lights with clips designed for gutters, fascia and shingles. We do not use nails or drill holes, which protects your roof and makes take-down clean.

Can I book other services at the same time?

Yes, and plenty of our Christmas light customers do. Since the lights clip onto your gutters, it can make sense to book gutter cleaning first. We also offer roof cleaning and pressure washing.
